Slippery Gulch Salve — Comfrey & Peppermint
Some places got named by surveyors. Some got named by whoever fell down first. Slippery Gulch is the second kind.
This is the tin that goes on cold — that’s the peppermint, and it’s the whole reason it exists. Comfrey gets infused into the oil slow, the way you’d infuse anything you didn’t want to rush. Then beeswax, then peppermint, then it sets.
Seasonal, because comfrey is seasonal. We make it when the plant is up in our beds and we stop when it isn’t.

Kaniksu Bar — Frankincense & Cedar Soap
The Kaniksu is the old cedar country up on the panhandle. Some of those trees were standing before Idaho was a state. A few were standing before Idaho was an idea. This bar is frankincense and cedar — resin and wood, the two oldest smells there are. Frankincense has been burned in temples for four thousand years. Cedar built everything north of the Salmon. Together they land somewhere between a church and a woodshop, which is about right. Cold process, cut by hand, cured six weeks on the rack. Nampa, Idaho.

Devil’s Bedstead Salve — Frankincense
The Devil's Bedstead is a real peak in the Pioneer Mountains — nearly twelve thousand feet of bare rock over Wildhorse Canyon. Somebody looked at it a hundred-some years ago and decided that's where the devil sleeps. We hung that name on a tin of frankincense, which people have been burning in temples and working into their skin for four thousand years. A sacred resin under a devil's name. We think both sides would find it funny. Resin infused into plant oils, set with beeswax, poured warm into a tin that fits a pocket. Small batch. Nampa, Idaho

Sawtooth Meadow Bar — Lavender & Chamomile Soap
The meadows under the Sawtooths get a few weeks. Snow comes off in June, the wildflowers run hard through July, and by August the show is over. Nothing up there blooms on a schedule that suits anybody. Neither does this bar. The chamomile gets infused into the oils while it's actually blooming in our beds — a few weeks a summer — and lavender goes over the top. Then it's done until next year. That's not a marketing decision. It's just when the flowers are here. When the batch is gone, it's gone. Cold process, cured six weeks. Nampa, Idaho.
